We Are Girls First

About Us

At Girls First, our Vision is to promote a culture of honouring and protecting girls and women worldwide. The Mission is to identify and bridge the physical, psycho-emotional and spiritual needs of vulnerable girls with multi-disciplinary services to support their protection and restoration from victimisation.

We have to reprogram our culture and stop turning a blind eye to abuse against vulnerable people. It’s time to take action.

Our Model

A multifaceted approach

OUTREACH

The Outreach arm covers all activities that involve direct interaction with our primary target group, that is, girls between ages 12 - 21. Often times these activities are in partnership with other organisations, schools, churches, etc. that provide access to the target group.

ADVOCACY

Advocacy comprises primarily of social marketing campaigns that make the public aware and drive behaviour change to support the needs of the target audience. This is done using channels such as social media, traditional media (radio, tv, print). It also involves the representation of issues facing the target group at various events and may invoke peaceful protests, marches, letters to the editor, petitions to the government, etc.

RESOURCE HUB

Using this site as a database, one of our primary goals is to connect anyone, especially girls, who are being/have been victimised - with access to various resources including counselling services, medical aid, legal advice, crime reporting mechanisms, inner-healing resources, and other forms of support. (Database under construction)

SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP

After girls have been honed in the programme over a period of time and carefully assessed, they have the opportunity of working in any of the entrepreneurial efforts associated with Girls First. They are also trained as mentors, which they can offer as a remunerable or voluntary service with other organisations.
